Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet Burns Down the Apple Tree

Amazon has turned up the heat on Apple with the new Kindle Fire Tablet PC. Amazon’s fire is spreading and burning a path of positive reviews across the internet. Easy to read, brilliant color, great media interactivity and more.
Apple has been having a spat with Adobe over the future of animations and rich content on the internet in phones, on your tablets and PC’s. This has led to Apple dropping the popular Flash applications that run on so many websites. The new Amazon Kindle Fire has no problem running Flash with it’s Android Operating System. Not only does the new Kindle Fire use the Android operating system, it is made for it! Another feature of the new Kindle is that it is cheaper than Apples offerings and my favorite aspect of it is that It Isn’t an Apple!!!

Firefox Browser Android OS Apple and Disasters ~ Wow, Lots Going On!

The effects of the Tsunami and earthquake in Japan have been devastating for the people of Japan and the totality of the human tragedy will not be known for a long time, if ever. Widgie widget loves Android BumblebeeWhat the final cost of the financial impacts of this crisis will be are also still unknown. The American Institute of Philanthropy is a great resource for information on effective ways to help.

One of the immediate effects on the area of tech, is that consumerism in Japan has taken a nose dive. Sales of Apple’s iPhone and Android OS tablet computers are down along with everything else in Japan. In the short term this could effect the perceived popularity of new technology due to world sales numbers being lower than in past years, we’ll see.

On a positive note, Firefox 4 has come out with a new look and feel. I’m still getting used to it, but so far so good.

Android for tabletsAndroid has released it’s newest version of its operating system for 2011, Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The folks at Android labs keep getting it right. Honeycomb rocks with improved support for tablet computing and enhanced time management solutions. Here’s the latest video on this hot new OS from the folks at Google.

Meanwhile Windows Phones seem to be floundering in the dark. I will never understand how a company as powerful as Microsoft can’t seem to get it right so often.

Finally Google has released an on line magazine called Think Quarterly. Good luck to the new mag, thinking quarterly is about all I need anyway. :)

Wikileaks ~ Internet Freedom and Silly Little Websites Like This.

Internet fascism makes Widgie sad.

The Wikileaks phenomena has been waking up a lot of people from their political slumbers. Some hate it, some love it and some, though fewer every day, have no clue what it is all about. No matter where you stand on the press being able to discuss information leaked to it, there could be some very serious negative consequences if people allow them.

One of the more scary things being discussed is changing the whole way the internet gets around. The powers that be are discussing changing the DNS system and other controls that will make it easier for governments and corporations to decide what is on the internet.

Once that happens silly little websites like this will disappear. You will only receive corporate approved information and services, reserved for the rich to provide, and the poor to consume. The “democratic” aspects of the web will be gone forever.

If you believe in freedom of the press and the leveling effect a free internet can have, do not sit by and allow these changes to happen. They may say it’s about stopping cyber-terrorism, it’s really about complete corporate control and stopping unwanted information from entering the public domain.
